Nestled in the heart of Antigua Guatemala, AKT Tours began its exciting journey as CAMP AKT, located in the beautiful village of La Soledad, at the foot of Acatenango Volcano. The story starts with Boris Juarez, his son Andrés, and his brother Fredy—three adventurers with a passion for road races and trail running. As part of their training, they would frequently ascend Acatenango Volcano, parking their car in La Soledad and embarking on the breathtaking climb. The views from this point were already spectacular, and it was common to see tourist groups gearing up for their own adventures. However, something was missing—there were no comfortable or adequate facilities for visitors.
Driven by their love for the majestic landscapes and convinced of the region’s untapped tourism potential, Boris and his family decided to create something special: a project that would provide the necessary amenities for travelers and serve as a hub for tourism agencies seeking to offer a more comfortable experience for their clients.
In 2020, at kilometer 78, just 600 meters from the entrance to Acatenango Volcano, CAMP AKT began to take shape. The vision was clear: a space with a restaurant, hostel, camping areas, and comfortable relaxation zones, all designed to offer an unforgettable experience. True to their belief in community involvement, the construction hired only local workers from La Soledad and nearby areas, ensuring that the benefits of the project reached the local people.
AKT Tours is proudly registered with the Guatemalan Institute of Tourism (INGUAT), and our team is composed of both local community guides and certified general guides, ensuring expert knowledge and safety on every adventure.
We focus on personalized tours with small groups of no more than 14 people, allowing us to give you the attention you deserve.
